For the ECD 2020 we were able to win Akeneo as Main Sponsor and are therefore very excited. But what services does Akeneo actually offer? What is the team looking forward to at the ECD? And what e-commerce trends does Akeneo see in the coming year? That’s what Tobias Schlotter, General Manager Central & Eastern Europe at Akeneo tells us in an interview.
ECD: Hello Tobias, could you please introduce Akeneo for us and summarise which services you offer for your customers?
Tobias: With pleasure, Verena! Akeneo is the leading open-source technology provider in the area of product experience management. With our Akeneo PIM we offer our customers what is probably the most modern and flexible system for centralisation and contextualisation of product information. Furthermore, we provide retailers with a tool for onboarding suppliers who can then make their product information available directly in the PIM for the retailer via a user-friendly platform or API.
Together with our integration partners and the strongest ecosystem of the PIM industry, we help companies to prepare for the challenges of the experience economy and accompany them on their way to becoming a product experience champion. We believe that there cannot be a good customer experience without an outstanding product experience.

The ECD is an impressive format in many ways! The combination of first-class content, perfectly organised appointment management and the typically welcoming Tradebyte atmosphere is simply unrivalled. This and the fact that Tradebyte and Akeneo are a perfect dream team for our customers especially mean that for us the ECD is one of the most important events of the year!
How are you preparing for the ECD 2020? How many of you will be there? What have you got planned?
We are already working on the content and hope that we can convince the audience with a very special highlight. We’ll come with 5 colleagues but we won’t reveal more at this point… 😉
The topic of your presentation is still a secret, but could you give us a few hints?
We want to fulfil our role as an enabler of product experience management and also implement that into our presentation: inspiration and best practice for everyone who wants to make their product experience journey a success.
In your opinion, how will e-commerce develop in the near future? What are the trends for 2020?
We’ve recently fully arrived in the experience economy, but some companies haven’t realised that while others are making good use of it. Of course that also has far-reaching consequences for e-commerce and therefore in 2020 the topics will all be somehow connected to the customer & product experience. The B2B sector is surely facing the biggest pressure to change while B2C-focussed companies will continue perfecting the experience in omnichannels. The contextualised presentation of their own products at the touch points will surely play a decisive role where both our companies will be good sparring partners. 😉

Our partnership with you is, for many of our customers, essential and highly strategic for us in the area of the marketplace. On an interpersonal level I would describe our partnership as a friendship as we work very, very similarly and manage to perfectly reconcile work and fun… We’re very happy to be part of the Tradebyte ecosystem and would like to further develop the perfect match which our systems will provide for companies in 2020 and of course we want to make our mutual customers even more successful!
